The Congregation at Canaan

Canaan is a small town north of Port-Au-Prince, home of individuals who have lost their homes during the earthquake in 2010 and were displaced. The town has since evolved from a tent city to building some permanent structures as the families try to maintain their livelihood. These photos were taken in March 2012.

"For now, I'm not doing anything since I'm pregnant. I used to work at a restaurant, but that place got destroyed during the earthquake and the owner moved to the United States."

"My husband died 15 years ago, so it's my responsibility to take care of my 82-year old mother and my daughter's child. Still, I feel safe in Canaan since nothing is going to happen."
